FS and EH&S Pilot Safety Program
Facilities Services Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Facilities Services is partnering with Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) on a pilot program to protect our staff through improved safety program implementation and enhanced coordination of fundamental safety services.
EH&S and FS leadership worked together to create a special program in which EH&S will provide an onsite safety professional to serve as the FS Department Safety Coordinator (DSC), to advise and assist FS, and to ensure the development of a more effective and sustainable safety program. The DSC will provide leadership by implementing a wide range of safety actions.
This is an extraordinary example of interdepartmental collaboration. The program is temporary and slated to last up to two years while other efforts are underway within FS to define and address the long term need.
Facilities Services will maintain responsibility and ownership of the FS safety program, with the active participation and support of all of our managers, supervisors and staff. We are very grateful to EH&S for their assistance and partnership in fulfilling this critical function and helping us take our safety program to the next level.

Executive Safety Committee
The Executive Safety Committe members are listed in the FS Red Folder and available to all personnel by searching the “Executive Safety Committee” file in the Red Folder. Membership consists of representation from each trades-shop, each Custodial group, each Grounds group, some management, some safety specialists from EH&S, and an occupational health nurse from University Health Services.
